Most Tanzanian businesses that buy fuel and freight use two suppliers and two sets of phone numbers. That is workable until something goes wrong, at which point they discover how many people they now have to call. Combining both cargo types under one operation is not a novelty - it removes coordination work from the buyer's week.
1. One Contract Instead of Two
A combined supply agreement covers both fuel and freight with agreed rates, response times and escalation paths. For a buyer, that means one relationship to manage, one invoice to reconcile and one number to call at 02:00 when something has stopped.
2. One Control Room, One Set of Records
Tankers, container units and flatbeds are dispatched from the same control room and tracked on the same systems. The customer sees one view of what is moving and when. Nobody has to ask a second supplier for a status update that the first supplier already had.
3. The Same Safety Regime
Fuel and dry cargo are different hazards, but the controls that matter are the same: trained drivers, documented inspections, supervised loading, planned routes, recorded delivery. Running both under one quality system means one standard to audit rather than two that may not match.
"Buyers do not switch because a tanker is late once. They switch because resolving it took four calls to three companies."

4. One Point of Accountability
When fuel and freight are separated, a delay is always somebody else's fault - the tanker company blames the port, the freight company blames the customs agent. When one company runs both, there is no one to point at except the operator who is also the one who can fix it.
5. It Only Works If Capacity Is Real
The honest caveat: a partner claiming both capabilities needs both fleets. Ask what equipment is actually owned versus subcontracted, and ask whether the fuel operation has priority during peak season. Combining suppliers is only an advantage if both halves are genuinely operated, not merely offered.
